The Matterhorn has inspired generations of mountaineers. Our small gay mountain climbing group will hone our skills here in the Alps, then head for the summit. The Matterhorn, proudly soaring nearly two miles from the Swiss village of Zermatt and the valleys below, is the most distinctive mountain image in the world. Surprisingly, its jagged ridges can be climbed by those with only a moderate degree of mountain climbing background. Our trip here in the Swiss Alps is intended for gay men and women who have some mountaineering or related experience such as our Grand Teton ascent.

Cason Crane born December 2,  is an American mountain climber. In , he became the first openly gay mountaineer to scale the Seven Summits. Crane is the oldest of five children born to David W. His younger brother Oliver Crane is an American adventurer and rower. Crane attended Princeton Day School through his eighth grade year, along with the rest of his siblings. In ,  he graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall , a private boarding school in Connecticut , where he competed in a number of sports. Crane summited his first mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro , as a year-old freshman in high school with his mother.
