Women who have a history of ectopic pregnancy or who experience symptoms such as bleeding or stomach pains soon after becoming pregnant may be invited to have a scan at an early pregnancy unit in their local hospital. These scans are not routinely available for pregnant women on the NHS unless there is a medical reason for one.
