The Frisky -- There are a lot of misconceptions about lesbians. I'm confronted with them daily and, frankly, hearing this stuff is like getting smacked in the face with a wet rag. Usually, when someone fires off a stereotype, I am so shocked that I just stand there, staring, opening and closing my mouth like a big, dumb goldfish. So I'm going to take this opportunity to get up on my soapbox and stamp out all the stupid, ignorant misconceptions I have heard over the years. Hopefully, next time I hear one of these things I can eloquently explain why it's untrue rather than just stammering, "What!?
What To Do When Your Girlfriend Has A Lot Of 'Guy Friends'

Few other questions have provoked debates as intense, family dinners as awkward, literature as lurid , or movies as memorable. Still, the question remains unanswered. Daily experience suggests that non-romantic friendships between males and females are not only possible, but common—men and women live, work, and play side-by-side, and generally seem to be able to avoid spontaneously sleeping together. In order to investigate the viability of truly platonic opposite-sex friendships—a topic that has been explored more on the silver screen than in the science lab—researchers brought 88 pairs of undergraduate opposite-sex friends into…a science lab. Privacy was paramount—for example, imagine the fallout if two friends learned that one—and only one—had unspoken romantic feelings for the other throughout their relationship. In order to ensure honest responses, the researchers not only followed standard protocols regarding anonymity and confidentiality, but also required both friends to agree—verbally, and in front of each other—to refrain from discussing the study, even after they had left the testing facility.
Why Dating a Man With Female Friends Could Be Bad For Your Health
Human connection happens naturally, no matter what gender you are. Girls who find complete peace with their male crowd aren't suffering from girl deprivation; they just like what they like, and that's that. So, before you judge the girl who surrounds herself with an awesome bro squad, understand a few things about her first. Humans of the opposite sex are more than able to be cordial without intimacy. Give humankind a little more credit than that.
As fun as it can be, it's sometimes really hard to be a girl who has only guy friends. During my university years, all my closest friends were guys, so much so that when there were "dude nights" I would be the only female invited along. Even though years have passed and I now live in a different city and consequently don't hang out with those guys any more , I still have a few select male BFFs. There's a stigma attached to having mostly men as friends when you're a woman: People assume that you're trying to manipulate something out of the friendship, that you're anti-woman, or that you just want attention, but sometimes all that it comes down to is that you want to sit about in your underpants farting and seeing how many McDonald's cheeseburgers you can fit in your mouth without being judged. Or maybe, like any other friendship, these guys just happen to be the whole with whom you have the most in common.
