Dear Friends, Welcome to the Pride Guide! Fifty years ago, the New York Police Department attempted to raid the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street, a safe haven for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. But that night the patrons fought back, and started the uprising that we now know as the Stonewall Riots, led by transgender and lesbian activists of color. We have accomplished much in the past half century, but as we see almost daily, we must continue to fight for the rights we have achieved. This has been a significant year of growth for the Center, but also a difficult year due to the constant threats to our safety and wellbeing.
