At the start of each round, players can purchase weapons and gear with money earned from various actions, from assisting on kills to completing objectives. Regardless of mission type, a round ends when one team completes an objective, eliminates the other team, or lets the timer run out. If a Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist attempts to kill hostage, they will suffer a heavy cash penalty. An update later changed how Counter-Terrorists rescue hostages: instead of leading them around, players must carry one hostage at a time to the extraction point.

CS: GO: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Patch Notes Revealed
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has opened up Broken Fang Premier—the competitive matchmaking mode previously available only to those who'd bought the Broken Fang pass—to all players. One caveat is that non-Prime players will not be matched into the Premier mode. So almost everyone can play Premier mode, unless you've just started.
Matchmaking is feature available in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive added as part of the October 25, update. During October 1, update, replaced "Join in Progress" matchmaking system with "Queued" matchmaking. Searching for a selected game mode is available from Main menu in "Find a Game" or by creating Lobby via "Play with Friends" menu item. Currently in beta, Prime Account Matchmaking was added as part of the April 21, update. Starting with the June 15, update, a profile rank of Lieutenant Rank 21 or above is also needed to participate.
