Police believe Ingrid Lyne, a Seattle-area mother of three, was the victim of homicide after dismembered remains were found a day after her disappearance. Unlike singles in the '70s, who cruised bars and discos and risked looking for love in all the wrong places, tens of millions of singles each day join and log on to online dating sites with the belief that their efforts to find love and companionship are safe and secure. But the apparent murder and dismemberment of Ingrid Lyne, a year-old Seattle-area mother of three, has sent shockwaves throughout the cyber-romance world, with many begging the question: Is anyone safe? Lyne disappeared last Friday after leaving to meet a date, who police identified as John Robert Charlton, Friends said Lyne met Charlton a few months earlier through an as-yet-unnamed online dating site.

Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole said at a news conference Monday evening that an arrest had been made in the case and detectives believe the human remains are that of Ingrid Lyne, a year-old mother of three who worked as a nurse in Seattle. Friends of Lyne said they last saw her Friday afternoon and that she had planned to go on a date to a Mariners baseball game Friday night with someone she met online. He has been booked into jail on investigation of homicide. It wasn't immediately clear if Charlton had an attorney.
A Seattle nurse and mother of three was killed by her boyfriend, who cut her apart then dumped her head and other body parts in a recycling bin, prosecutors said. She and Charlton had been dating for six to eight weeks before she vanished Friday night despite earlier reports they had just met online, KOMO-TV reported. The ex-husband of Lyne, 40, reported her missing Saturday morning, and a homeowner discovered the head, arm, lower leg and foot that afternoon, court documents show. Seattle police arrested Charlton Monday north of the city, in Snohomish County.
